Here are some of the cooler things I have done:

StreamToy

StreamToy is my response to the COVID-19 pandemic - an integrated MIDI-controlled video synthesizer that pulls live video feeds from Zoom/Skype/etc and applies professional design practices in real-time for virtual streaming events. StreamToy offers near-infinite permutations of video effects, layering, live looping, motion tracking, and currently supports over 50 user presets.

Kodachrome

I designed projections for the world premiere of Kodachrome by Adam Szymkowicz at Portland Center Stage. For the play, I developed a proprietary wireless cueing system in which our actor Lena can trigger live projections by actuating the shutter on a DSLR camera. Additionally, she takes real photos throughout the play that are projected wirelessly and instantaneously, without input from a board operator. This technology is easily expandable as the camera can trigger sound and light cues through MIDI as well.

The Project(s)

I worked with really great projection designer Mike Stanfill to research, curate, and design projection media for the world premiere of PJ Paparelli's The Project(s) at American Theater Company - The Chicago Tribune's 2015 Play of the Year. During a year-long process of documentary theater development, I collected thousands of images related to Chicago Public Housing, conducted interviews with residents, and led our transcription team through countless hours of interview footage.

The Magic Tower / Paradise

I worked for two years alongside artist James Franco on multimedia projects The Magic Tower and Paradise, at CalArts and the Edgemar Center in Santa Monica. I played the titular role in Paradise and adapted my own hybrid dance / theater / live video piece as a part of The Magic Tower's collection of short plays.

Buyer

More Projections

I’ve designed projections for a bunch of other shows too. Mostly theater. Here’s a cool shot of Buyer & Cellar at Portland Center Stage with some fun projection mapping challenges I navigated.

etc

I like to make art projects with my friends. Among other interests, I’m big on adapting cult films for the stage. Here's Miles recreating the famed electric jellyfish discovery scene in Wes Anderson's The Life Aquatic.
